Making doe eyes at my wife after finishing a whole sea-bass, I wiped my lips and covered the offending fish with my napkin.

'Why must they always leave the eyes in? It really creeps me out!' she complained.

'You didn't mind eating that succulent lamb though. Perhaps if they'd left the eyes in you would go pescatarian like me,' I replied.

At that moment, a beautiful Turkish waitress arrived at our table holding a tulip shaped glass, the steaming hot vapours dancing round the rim.

'Stop looking!' my wife scowled.

'Perhaps you should have my eyes removed too,' I smirked.

Pinching the slender curves of the glass between my fingers, the aroma of apples enveloped me. Eyes closing in ecstasy, I held it to my nostrils, breathed in deeply and smiled.

'What the hell is wrong with you? You look like you're having some sort of orgasm!'

‘Ah … no love … it’s just that … well … the smell of hot apples in this tea is bloody amazing! … would you like a sniff?’

‘No! Just bloody drink it will you, people are watching! If it’s really that amazing I’ll buy you some for Christmas … weirdo!’

As I continued making love to my tea, I noticed my wife frantically scrolling on her mobile phone. I thought perhaps I had gone too far and she was searching for a divorce lawyer. But a few weeks later, I found out what she was really doing. Texting Santa Claus!

On Christmas day, she handed me my present. It was a solid iron teapot and a huge bag of authentic Turkish apple tea. My dream present! My dream wife!

I now drink my Turkish apple tea every single evening before bedtime. Not only does it offer an aromatic experience, it also turns out to have healing properties too …

The list of health benefits Turkish apple tea offers is truly outstanding. It’s full of vitamin C and many other antioxidants that can help boost your immune system. It can help strengthen bones, lower cholesterol, and the fibre content will even help keep you regular (you know what I mean!). It’s caffeine free too, so perfect for cold winter nights before bedtime when you’re reading.

There is much pleasure to be had in the brewing process also. Unlike the bitter feeling you get when spooning some horrible brown processed dust into a mug, making Turkish apple tea can be both therapeutic and relaxing.

First, you pre-heat the pot by sloshing some boiling water around. Next, spoon the apple tea into a mesh infuser, sniffing as you go (it smells so good!) Now fill the pot with water, lower the mesh inside, and watch it soak and swell. Finally, just pop on the lid and wait ten minutes for the love.

Another great thing about cast-iron teapots is that you can keep them warm for ages. My teapot came with a special raised stand that allows you to place a tea-light below. This means you can make an entire pot of tea and enjoy it all evening without it getting cold. Lovely in winter-time.

Turkish apple tea is an enriching experience that everyone should try and enjoy. Not only does it taste and smell amazing, but its added health benefits will give you a huge boost all year round.

And who knows ... you might have an orgasm.
