Bottle up feelings instead of sharing,

Be the doormat and obsequios person

Your narcissist parents or employer wants you to be.

Ignore the pain and hide your emotions.

Don't communicate your issues as that would cause retribution.

Realize you are the problem and not the accuser.

Internalize pain till it feels like a bomb will explode

From within. Make sure you are far away or alone

If you need to cry. Just remember there are only so many

Tears that you can cry till the light in your eyes leaves you,

That is to say if you still have light left in them.

Fast forward many years when you are in a different environment,

You will not even realize what emotion you are feeling.

Isn't it great?

I feel you, Sid. So much passion and so much pain. But somehow we always make it to the next day. Great writing as always!

  • I think you have touched upon how many people feel with your words.

  • Well-wrought, friend. May our tears always clean those pathways which make room for laughter. Many blessings!

Liberation feels so wonderfully good Sid. Continue to revel in it, it is a healer.

The saddest thing about this poem is that it feels so lived. You described the process beautifully, but so well-it breaks my heart. Sending you virtual hugs!

This struck me deeply. The subtle way you show someone losing touch with their own feelings over years is both heartbreaking and eye-opening.

  • WOW. I had to reread it to rethink what you said. DEEP. Thank you. I can related. HUGS!

This hits hard and it’s painfully honest! The fact that you can name this now tells me the light didn’t leave maybe it just went underground for a while. And it’s finding its way back. 🌱

This hits way too close to home :( I'm so sorry.

  • It's really sad that so many of us would be able to relate to this, including you. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️

It's unfortunate and sad that this applies to so many because keeping feelings bottled is almost a requirement sometimes, when it really shouldn't be. Great poem Sid 😊

This is so sad. The slow erosion of self is captured so clearly here.

WHEW, I felt the constriction of this poem as it ended, the hidden emotions, and wondering if you will feel anything. Very well done
