Water

the element of serenity

I open

the tap

and it runs

clear.

*

A sound

fills the air

but I

hardly notice

until the pipes

start to groan.

*

It gathers

in a glass,

to keep me

healthy and alive.

*

You don’t

really think

about it that

way, though.

*

You know it

as fact, but it’s

not the first thing

that comes to mind

when you think of

water.

*

Instead, you think:

*

It clings

to my skin

and soaks my

clothes.

*

It can be

warm

or it can be

cold.

*

It can be

peaceful

but it can rage

like a storm.

*

It houses

fish and other

aquatic creatures.

*

It can kill

but

it can also

save.

*

Give or take,

good or bad,

we need water

and that’s just

a fact.

I love that you show both sides of water and that it's a love/hate thing. Very well written.
