Heart after own heart
1 Samuel 16, NKJV
Samuel Anoints David
1 The LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem.
I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”
.
5 Samuel replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed stands here before the LORD.”
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance,
but the LORD looks at the heart.”
.
10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The LORD has not chosen these.”
11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on
the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

I loved this! Such a good read both ways! Well done!
Very well written!!
Ah the cursed demons who haunt our sleep. How do they even know when to taunt and jeer, I guess they never sleep. Beautiful poetry.
One cycles into the other, the ups & downs of falling asleep never knowing quite where it will take us.
The tag🤣 "For Fun" Sorry, I saw it and it made me giggle. Anyway- This. Wow. THIS. Hannah, you really took this challenge to the next plane. This is like, expert-level poetry. Idk if that makes sense? I just feel like this is something one of my English teachers would've made us study and then revealed that it came from some big name poet. Compliments. All the Compliments. And accolades!👏🏼
While Demons sink into Hell Carrying fragile souls aloft, That is a visual I never wish to see. Well done
This is fabulous. The switch is clear and makes perfect sense both directions. Well done.
I seriously relate to this; excellent thriller for a scaredy cats!
Great inverse! The bottom four lines really anchor a strong pivot
Oooh, I like this one. Every line is perfectly constructed. Great job, Hannah!
Well now. This typifies both my views of sleep and after dark time. This was beautifully written and saw what you said to Rachel about your partner. haha. It makes sense and has clear interpretations both ways and uses just the right amount of words. Genius work, really. I feel kinda proud of you for this one!
This was so brilliantly executed! I loved this so much!
Love the darkness of this poem! Fabulous job! 😃 we all have anxieties 🥰
I loved it in both ways! Very creative!🥰
Exemplary! This is what I would call a great inverse. I still can't do them.
Love the imagery in this piece!
