Woman in Woods with a Cat

I was telling my daughter

that a friend said

she wanted to live in the woods

in a hut, with a cat.

Daughter said that

is what witches do.

But many adults

who are fed up with

society's hypocrisy

do that too, I told.

She said,

“I don’t want that

for myself.”

“Yes,” I told her,

“Now you are saying that

with eyes full of dreams.

But when somebody

breaks your heart

you will know.

Today someone may say,

‘Sophia, I love you.’

Next day

'My plans for life have changed'.

"After that episode,

heartbroken, disillusioned

you may want to live in the woods

with your cat,” I said.

We giggled.
